Wellbeing Resources

To highlight a few resources for your own use and to ensure these resources are well known by colleagues and staff supporting members of the public.

Below are a few recent highlights I wanted to share with you

1. Mindline now has a live chat function – Its not 24 hours but will let you know when it is open and closed. I’ve pasted below some new graphics for you to please add to websites, email signatures, social media. Here is a link to embed in the logo Mindline – Mind in Somerset. Last week they had 880 calls to the line so the need is there and I would encourage everyone to please keep promoting the line.

2. Open Mental health have launched their website. Here is a link. Please share, add to directories and circulate Somerset’s Mental Health Alliance – Open Mental Health.

3. At the heart of our approach to suicide prevention is the belief that suicide is everybody’s business and we all can have a part to play in suicide prevention. After the last two years we know there has been a rising concern regarding suicide and we hope these courses will help build competence and confidence in addressing these concerns. 4. The national website Every Mind Matters is continually updating and adding new sections. There is an excellent section on coronavirus and wellbeing. Please share, add to websites and encourage people to use as a self-care option.

5. The enhanced Bereavement Support service we set up with Marie Curie and Mind in Somerset in 2020 has now closed . Please remove details from website and directories. The funding was covid related. Tel number was. 0800 304 7412. The service made a real impact on those needing support during such difficult times. Huge thanks to the staff involved.

6. Get Connected for Mental Health Awareness Week 9-15th May Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 – Mental Health UK (mentalhealth-uk.org). The official theme is loneliness. Public Health will be promoting the week and if interested in getting involved, have activities already planned, please register interest at Public Health Training PublicHealthTraining@somerset.gov.uk

9. Action for Happiness continues to release the monthly calendars. This month is Active April. Active April | Action for Happiness

10. R;pple is a new free interceptive tool designed to present a visual prompt when a person searches for harmful keywords or phrases relating to the topic of self-harm or suicides. It will intercept and provide the person with ideas for help and support. Please have a look at the website and downlaod the tool.
